VISION of the Department 

The Programme is to make the Differently Abled students as Professionals of International Standards in Office Administration covering the areas of Accounting, Communication, Automation and Documentation according to the emerging needs of Corporates in Manufacturing, Trading and Service Sectors, Service Oriented Organizations and Government Agencies.Also to make the students fit for pursuing higher education and opportunities equally with Abled persons.

  • The programme invokes the desire and ability of lifelong learning in the students for pursuing successful career by improvement in the quality of diploma education.
  • Maintaining strong institution & industry relationship for student development.
  • Strengthening the inter-institutional linkage with the professional organizations, accrediting agencies, statutory authorities who share common responsibilities.

 

The course is related to business and its applications.  The candidate can have a career in the area of accounting,office administration, documentation in huge establishments like banks, hotels, big malls, commercial and industrial establishments, etc. The course aims to provide skills in the area of accounts, economics, business and marketing management, business law, taxation, business arithmetic, statistics, stenography and computer skills like Tallym MS-Office, Networking etc.

Eligibility:  Candidates who have passed SSLC (Karnataka) or its equivalent and minimum disability must be 40% in the case of Orthopedically Disabled, 60db for Hearing Impaired and 6/60 or 20/200 Snellen for Visually Impaired (Partial or Full) are eligible for admission to this course.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)  

  • Laying a solid foundation to develop Commercial Practice Diploma Professionals to acquire knowledge in commerce, management, technical, computer and secretarial skills to meet the needs of the industry, institution and society.
  • Imparting continuous and value based education to enable the students to uphold the values and ethics of the Profession
  • Producing qualified and efficient human resource to match the manpower requirements of the user system to handle the managerial and executive works.
  • Inculcating innovative and research methods to update the knowledge of students in the context of emerging technology.

 

Course Outcome:  The passed out candidates can be placed in Government / Private organizations, Banks, educational institutions, Commercial and Industrial Establishments as stenographers, Private / Personal Secretaries, Office assistants, Computer Operators, Lab Instructors, Receptionists, Call Center / BPO personnel.

Students who are interested in pursuing higher education can get admission to II Year B.Com / BBM Degree offered by any recognized University.

Most of the passed out candidates get placements without much difficulty since the avenues for employment is wide.

Commercial Practice Department has a separate  Computer Laboratory to teach Commercial Practice students with higher end configuration, 1 LCD TV with PC Connectivity, Printers, Braille Printer, Scanners, Networking, Internet Connection, Wi-Fi facility and other accessories. 

This lab is being used to train the students of this department in the following subjects:

  • Computer Applications in Business Lab
  • Web Designing Lab
  • Basic Computer Trouble Shooting and Networking Lab
  • Tally Accounting Package Lab
  • Desk Top Publishing Lab
  • Computer Typing (English)
  • Interactive and Progressive English Lab
  • Communication and Correspondence Skills

This lab is also utilized to conduct the following Programs:

  •  “Computer Training Class’ for Non - Teaching Staff.
  • Placement Activities like On - Line Tests and Interviews etc.,
  • Guest Lectures and Workshops.

Department Commercial Practice's activities

The objective of this department is to provide systematic and effective training to the Differently Abled in the areas like Stenography, Private / Personal Secretaryship, MS Office, Office Assistantship,  Office Management, Accounts, Income Tax Law, Cost Accounting, Communication and Soft Skills etc.

The department is equipped with dedicated faculty and supporting staff, smart class rooms with Multimedia Projectors, Computer Laboratory to run the activities of the department effectively.

The Commercial Practice Diploma Holders can be employed as Stenographers, Private / Personal Secretaries, Office Assistants, Computer Operators, Lab Instructors  etc. They can also opt for higher education by joining Second Year B.Com or BBM Degree Courses under Lateral Entry System.

The Orthopaedically Handicapped, Hearing Impaired and Partially Visually Impaired students are eligible for admission to this course. The intake for this course is 30 students.

The main activities of the department are as follows:

  • Conducting of Three years regular Diploma in Commercial Practice Program.
  • Arranging Short Term Training Programmes for teaching staff to upgrade their Knowledge.
  • Organizing visits of students to various  offices and organisations.
  • Arranging Guest Lectures by Experts from Industries and other organisations for of Students and  Staff.
  • Arranging Personality Development Workshops for Students.
  • Organizing English Workshop as Bridge Course for Freshers.
  • Organizing Career Guidance Programme for Final Year Students.
  • Organizing Training Program on Aptitude for Students.
  • Arranging Counselling for Students by Psychologists.
