ISTE Chapter

Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a National, professional, non-profit making society having its head quarters at New Delhi. ISTE has more than 97,286 technical teachers as members and more than 5,60,000 student members and more than 2,300 institution members, 1,160 faculty chapters and 1,280 student chapters throughout the country. The main objective of ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the country.
JSS Polytechnic for the Differently Abled has opened the ISTE faculty chapter during 1999 with the aim of providing technology up-graduation programmes through short term training programmes and faculty development programmes to upgrade knowledge of faculty members of this institution. All the faculty members are life members of ISTE and are utilizing the facilities and opportunities provided by ISTE for technical up gradation to keep themselves equipped with State of Art technologies.
 
ISTE Student Chapter
ISTE student chapter was started in the year 2001-02 and all the students become annual members of this chapter and utilize the services of ISTE. Many programms are organized by this chapter for the benefit of students of this institution in the area of technology, career guidance, workshops, guest lectures, etc.  This chapter provides an opportunity for the students to upgrade their technical knowledge in addition to regular academic curriculum. The acquired knowledge of this programme will be utilized in the regular course of study. The student chapter has actively organized several progammes for the benefit of the students by the experts from industries and reputed organizations. 

 

The institute has provided accommodation to the candidates within the campus separately for both boys and girls. At the time of getting admitted to this institution, those candidates who wish to stay in the hostel has to apply along with filled application (download application format below) with the prescribed fees.  Hostel accommodation will be provided depending on the vacancy available & also the conduct of the candidate during the previous year / semester.  It is usually done on first come first serve basis.

The inmates of the hostel has to follow the rules and regulations of the hostel strictly. The mess charges is levied on the dividing system.  Shared accommodation will be provided to the students and every month the students have to pay the hostel mess charges. The hostel has been designed to meet the requirements of Differently Abled children with easy accessibility.  The hostel has spacious rooms which can provide a decent accommodation.  Each student is provided with a cot, cupboard with locking facility, a table & a chair.  

In the hostel mess students are provided two vegetarian meals, a breakfast & tea / coffee two times.  Only vegetarian food is served in the hostel.  Special meals are provided during festival days & holidays. Non-vegetarian / smoking & cosumption of liquor is strictly prohibited.  Any student found guilty of this, he will be asked to leave the hostel immediately. Students who clear the previous exams will get preference in the allotment of hostel seats over the ones who have not cleared their exams. 

Do’ and Don’ts of Hostel Living

DO….
  • Be friendly with other hostellers and say hello to them if they awake
  • Always keeps your stuff clean and pack it on tour bags within concentrated area
  • Avoid smelly foods like snacks and drinks etc..., Use your own stuff never use other hostellers things
  • Maintain cleanliness and silence in dining hall. Turnoff lights when you are living your room
  • Turn off your mobile rings while other working
  • Share your experiences and achievements with other hostlers
  • Open up room windows when you are in room.
  • If you have any health issues contact hostel management immediately.
DON’T
  • Don't point out any other hosteller with your finger
  • Don't leave your valuable things in your room if you are not there
  • Don't ask to turnoff light early may be they need to study. Don't talk loudly when other hostellers are in work
  • Don't touch stuff of other hosteller. Don't knock the doors-especially at night
  • Don't turn on lights in midnight use flash light or battery. Don’t use mobile phone in hostel
  • Don't trouble any hostellers if you have any problem directly contact hostel management
  • Don't argue unnecessarily with hostel supporting staff.
RAGGING PROHIBITED
Possible Punishments For Found Guilty of Ragging
  1. Cancellation of Admission.
  2. Suspension From Attending Classes.
  3. Withholding/Withdrawing Scholarship/Fellowship and Other Benefits.
  4. Debarring From Appearing In Any Test/Examination or Other Evaluation Process. Withholding Results.
  5. Debarring From Representing The Institution In Any Regional National or International Meet, Tournament, Youth Festival, Etc. Suspension/Expulsion From The Hostel.
  6. Rustication From The Institution For Periods Varying From 1 To 4 Semesters Or Equivalent Period.
  7. Expulsion From The Institution And Consequent Debarring From Admission To Any Other Institution.
  8. Collective Punishment: When The Persons Committing Or Abetting The Crime of Ragging Are Not Identified, The Institution Shall Resort To Collective Punishment As A Deterrent To Ensure Community Pressure On The Potential Raggers.

 Nobody is bothered about an institution more than its alumni” - N. R. Narayana Murthy

The Alumni Association of the institute was inaugurated by Prof. A T Bhashyam, Director (project), JSSTE on 1st February 2009. Prof. B G Sangameshwar, Principal, SJCE was the chief guest,  Prof. B S Basavarajaiah, Special Officer, SJCE presided over the function in the presence of Sri Nanjundaswamy, Principal, JSSPDA.
Since then, the association is organizing Annual “JSSPDA Alumni Meet” every year. Alumni meet is a gathering of passed out students of an institution and it is a place where the institution feels proud on seeing its successful alumni. During their meet, the alumni community shares their experience in the outside world, which they faced after stepping out of the institution.
As a part of the Alumni Meet, the Association has been honoring the toppers of the institution and also regularly conducting competitions/events exclusively for the differently abled students/persons.
